Colorado Eye Institute is seeking a professional, friendly, and detail oriented individual to serve as a medical ophthalmic assistant within our practice. This position requires the ability to quickly and effectively multitask, problem-solve, and function in a fast-paced environment.
Experience preferred but not required as on the job training is provided!
This position also requires travel to satellite clinics. We offer a competitive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, 401K, paid time off, etc.
We are open on weekdays only and closed on holidays.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The Ophthalmic Technician generates important preliminary information to be used by the Physician, reviews patient charts, and performs medical tests. Supports the Mission, Vision, Values, and Mantra of the Colorado Eye Institute.

- Reviews patient chart to ensure completeness and accuracy of information. Performs testing required by the type of exam scheduled, patient complaint, and history.
- Acts as a scribe while the physician examines the patient entering data into electronic medical records
- Can take an ocular and systemic history and accurately record visual acuity. Can perform various diagnostic tests.
- Administer topical ophthalmic or oral medications under the direction of the physician.
- Assists with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, and sets up and cleans up after procedures.
- Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures.
- Assists in the training of other ophthalmic assistants.
- Assists with patient education.
- Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of exam rooms during the work day.
- Complies with all practice procedures and protocols. Complies with all State and Federal regulations. Understands and accepts responsibility for reporting potential or suspected errors to the supervisor or Compliance Officer.
- Maintains a positive attitude of cooperation, self-motivation, courtesy, and professionalism.
