STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Summary of Job Classification:
Oversees and administers the day-to-day operations of a peer mentor program within a veterans’ court(s). Recruits, trains, and supervises military veteran paid and volunteer peer mentors and may supervise up to three full time equivalent (FTE) employees. Participates in providing individual case management for justice-involved veterans. Identifies and tracks veterans as they progress through the court system. Ensures policies and procedures are adhered to. Serves as the state-wide leader for veteran programs, develops state- wide standards and goals, serves as a resource and advisor for other Coordinators throughout the judiciary.

Salary offers will be determined based on several factors, including relevant experience, budget availability, and compliance with the Equal Pay for Equal Work Act. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform assigned essential functions listed below satisfactorily. Performs administrative work and daily operations of the peer mentor program for the Veterans Trauma Court, including long and short-term event planning in alignment with the Mentor Team fiscal year budget.

Recruits, trains, and manages paid and volunteer mentors in alignment with federal and state Justice for Vets and Colorado Problem Solving Courts standards. Assigns and tracks assignments.

Makes confidential, policy compliant decisions about information and data gathering, storage, and sharing with VTC team and Mentor team.

Coordinates mentors and veteran relationships to ensure positive interactions. Conducts quality control checks of contracted pro-social outings for maximal use of funding.

Orchestrates veteran social support, crisis response, transportation, and connection to community stakeholders or resources in individualized community re-integrations plan from intake through alumni program phases.

Liaises with the problem-solving court coordinator, judicial officer, probation officers, court personnel, and other mentor team members to provide program support services and resolve concerns or issues.

Presents to program and community stakeholders, educating members on available support. Participates and presents at state-wide Veteran service organization meetings, conferences, and focus groups. Serves as a liaison between mentor and public sector communities.

Performs routine data entry and quality reviews to ensure accurate program statics and mentee records. Conducts applicable research to gather and report surveyed information in the annual report.

Provides on-call support, responding to urgent mentor and veteran needs after normal business hours.

Attends training and meetings as required.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. This position may oversee work quality, training, instructing and work assignments. The work performed by majority of employees is complex.

Employee normally perform assignments according to your own judgment, requesting Supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically. Impact of actions are moderate.

Fiscal Responsibility:
May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for functional area budget allocations. May monitor division or program/promotional level budget and expenditures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree in the field of Psychology, Sociology, or related field.

OR

Additional work experience in these or other related fields may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience:
1 to 3 years of experience in social work related field.

Licenses and Certifications:
None.

Physical Effort Requirements:
Sedentary Work- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.

Good-Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
