STATEMENT OF DUTIES

Summary of Job Classification:
The Peer Training Specialist provides onboarding and localized training to court employees within their district. Additionally, the position is responsible for training-related projects and implementing statewide procedural changes when applicable.

Please Note: Salary for this position is dependent on previous relevant experience as documented by the applicant and confirmed by court administration.

The Peer Training Specialist position will serve as the training and education registrar for all district employees and report to the Court Executive and Administrative Coordinator. Duties will include overseeing the onboarding of new employees and judges, review of compliance with mandatory training for all employees, development and maintenance of the district’s training resource SharePoint site, and training for employees in Judicial best practices and legislative changes. This position will also require training in customer service and courtroom and case management, including Judicial’s Case Management System, to be able to train district employees.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform assigned essential functions listed below satisfactorily. Creates and administers local onboarding plans. Shows employees local resources, facilities and introduces personnel to new employees.

Trains employees by using hands on direction and verbal coaching for court case processing with application of any local practices used. Sits with the employee while working on court dockets, at workstations in clerk’s office, shadows interactions with court customers. Allows repeated opportunity for learner to apply skills learned.

Reviews demonstrated work and gives feedback on the work product of the employees.

Schedules observation time of courtroom and/or clerk’s office. Assists in scheduling formal training for both HR mandatory classes and court education training for staff.

Mentors new or underperforming employees or divisions. May inform supervisors or Clerk of Court of employee performance issues and help implement improvement plans as needed.

Reinforces formal training for all court employees and utilizes the training activities created by the Court Education Specialists.

Analyzes current training and provides feedback and recommendations about training resources to training creators/ specialists when applicable.

Creates and maintains local work resources and job aides. Responsible for promoting and marketing of resources. Works data integrity reports and tracks local district adherence.
Serves as a district liaison with the State Court Administrator’s Office—Court Services Court Education Specialists, the CORE Unit, and Distance Learning Units.

Attends meetings and trainings as required. Attends classes and conferences, on an ongoing basis, to maintain knowledge, level, skills, and awareness of legislative changes. Participates in all state Peer Training Specialist programs.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Supervisor Responsibilities:
Work requires providing guidance and the potential to oversee another employee. The position may oversee work quality, training, instructing, and work assignments.

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies. Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas. Interactions have limited impact.

Freedom to Act & Impact of Actions:
Receives Limited Direction
Employee normally perform assignments according to their own judgment, requesting Supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.

Knowledge & Skills:
Expert: Recognized authority in an area of expertise related to the work. Technical expertise is sought out by others across organization. Incumbent can apply technical skills in a wide and often unpredictable range of contexts.

Fiscal Responsibility:
Position has no fiscal responsibility.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience Equivalency:
Bachelor’s degree and 2-3 years of experience in court processes and court data management systems.

OR

Additional directly related court experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required formal education.

Work Related Experience:
2 to 3years of court processes and court data management systems. Experience in training employees on work duties strongly preferred.

Licenses and Certifications:
None.

Physical Effort Requirements:
Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally.
Work Environment:
Good-Relatively free from unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.

Work Location:
Office or similar indoor environment.

Exposures:
Individuals who are hostile or irate; individuals with known violent backgrounds.
