Technical Instructor of Welding Technology - Montrose Campus

ABOUT THIS POSITION

Summary:

The Technical Instructor of Welding Technology teaches post-secondary courses in the Associate of Applied Science in Welding Technology degree program at CMU Tech - Montrose Campus. Duties require experience in all processes of welding, and teaching welding subjects including, but not limited to, shielded metal arc, oxy-fuel, fabrication & blueprints, oxy-fuel, gas-metal arc, pipe welding, flux core and automation. This position is located in Montrose, CO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  • Professional classroom and lab instruction of at least 15 credit hours per semester teaching subjects related to the Welding Technology program; maintain 5 hours of office time per week.
  • Applicant will be responsible for curriculum development and course scheduling.
  • Assess student performance in coursework with industry-related standards and expectations.
  • Organize shop and materials in a neat and tidy manner.
  • Order materials through department processes.
  • Work independently, and in collaboration with colleagues, to develop innovative curriculum which meets the needs of our diverse population of students.
  • Working knowledge of industry utilized equipment, equipment functionality, and trade principles, methods, and techniques.
  • Must be committed to highest quality teaching, be responsive to changing industry expectations, and support strong industry/community relations.
  • Determine program needs, maintain equipment, and maintain program budget.
  • Coordinate industry engagement with local employers for advisory committee, internship, and other industry specific needs.
  • Serve as representative of the department by participating in committees, task forces, and events at the campus, college, and/or state levels.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • Welding Certificate from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 4000 hours (approximately 2 years full time) of related occupational experience within the past 7 years.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or higher in Welding, or a related field.
  • AWS Certified.
  • Training or teaching experience in related field, either in a work training environment or in an educational environment.
