Colorado Permanente Medical Group is seeking a Physician Associate Investigator to join our team of professionals at the Kaiser Permanente Colorado Institute for Health Research. (IHR) This is a full-time benefited position that includes clinical duties one day per week.
The Kaiser Permanente Colorado Institute for Health Research (IHR) is an integrated department that conducts, publishes, and disseminates epidemiologic, behavioral, health services, implementation and clinical research.
The organization has a specific focus on conducting research that can be translated into clinical practice, health promotion, and policies to influence the health of individuals and populations. Established in 1992, the IHR is responsible for many landmark findings. Among the most notable are recent studies about opioid overdose prevention, vaccine safety, food insecurity, genomics, and cancer screenings.
The IHR has full-time and affiliate MD and PhD Investigators, supported by research staff including project managers, research specialists, research assistants, statisticians, analysts, programmers, as well as tumor registrars, finance and administrative staff.
We are seeking an MD or DO Associate Investigator with interest and demonstrated expertise and funding in the following content areas :
- Geriatrics
- Complex patient care
- Alzheimer's and other dementias
- And / or end-of-life care
- Along with demonstrated interest in social determinants of health, disparities in health and health care and / or digital health as part of the research portfolio

Job Summary :
Serves as investigator or co-investigator on major projects for the Kaiser Permanente Colorado (KPCO) Institute for Health Research (IHR). Leads or co-leads a program of research that is recognized nationally. Participates in and develops an ongoing program of research in area of expertise. Designs, develops, and obtains funding for well-defined research. Disseminates research results through presentations and publications in leading scientific and professional journals. is sought out to advise KPCO, Colorado Permanente Medical Group, Kaiser Permanente nationally, and national policymakers in area of expertise. Contributes to the ongoing development and maintenance of the IHR by assisting in IHR policy development and maintenance, serving on relevant KP committees, and providing technical consulting and professional service to KP. Maintains and supports a culture of compliance, ethics, and integrity. Maintains knowledge of policies and procedures and performs in accordance with the Principles of Responsibilities and applicable regulatory requirements, external laws and accreditation standards. Appropriately reports observed fraud or abuse Major Responsibilities / Essential Job Functions :
Required Minimum Education : MD or DO
Required Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications :
Minimum seven (7) years of experience as co- or principal investigator in conducting research and research experience during graduate and post-graduate training.
Knowledge of research methods and theory in health services research-related discipline, knowledge of approaches to dealing with methodological and analytic problems in area of expertise.
Preferred Work Experience and Qualifications :
Experience working in or with a health maintenance organization.

Salary : $242,693
