HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST - EMPLOYEE RELATIONS
JOB SUMMARY
This position acts as a versatile generalist, playing a key role in shaping the overall employee experience. Responsibilities include leading initiatives that foster and enhance employee engagement, handling employee relations, and providing coaching and development support. The role also contributes to the organization’s safety program, supports onboarding and offboarding, and assists leaders and teams in the interview process. Additionally, the HR Generalist offers hands-on and strategic guidance on employee matters, contributes to performance development, retention, and recognition programs, and provides support in talent acquisition, benefits, and other HR projects.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Provides comprehensive employee relations support by addressing workplace concerns, guiding employees and leaders on policies and best practices, facilitating conflict resolution, and ensuring compliance with employment laws.
- Ensures an effective approach to employee engagement, recognition programs, and employee feedback initiatives using data and best practices to inform decisions.
- Supports and strengthens organizational culture by identifying opportunities to enhance employee engagement, alignment with the organization’s mission, and strategic plan execution, while partnering with leadership to develop and implement programs that positively impact people and culture. Conducts exit and stay interviews, analyzes data, and provides leadership with insights to identify trends and opportunities.
- Leads the performance review and goal setting processes as a resource for employees and leaders; updates job descriptions in partnership with the Talent Acquisition Specialist and ensures alignment with organizational objectives.
- Analyzes recruiting metrics, onboarding survey results, exit and stay interview data, as well as other available data to identify trends and inform HR strategies.
- Provides talent acquisition support during high-volume periods by meeting with hiring managers, assisting with recruitment efforts, participating in interviews, and ensuring a smooth and efficient hiring process to meet staffing needs.
- Maintains and enhances the organization’s safety program by ensuring compliance, conducting regular training sessions, and promoting a culture of safety across all levels of the organization.
- Participates in the interview process for designated teams, offering guidance and support through the process.
- Maintains a strong understanding of laws, regulations, and compliance requirements affecting HR practices, ensuring alignment with legal and ethical standards.
- Participates in training and educational opportunities to stay updated on HR best practices and trends.
- May provide assistance with aspects of the benefits and leave process as needed.
- Manages and/or contributes to HR special projects and initiatives as assigned, consulting with teammates and other departments to ensure successful execution and completion.
- Maintains regular and prompt attendance in the workplace.
- Performs other HR duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field preferred; at least 3-7 years of progressive HR experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. It will be expected that the successful candidate achieve certification within one year of hire.
- Experience with employee engagement, with the Gallup Q12 Engagement framework preferred.
- Progressive human resources experience including employee relations, performance development, engagement, benefits, and talent acquisition.
- Strong communication skills are required, both written and verbal, including the ability to interact with leadership and employees effectively.
- Strong emotional intelligence required to effectively collaborate with diverse personalities and foster a positive work environment.
- Experience working with highly sensitive material and demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to analyze a problem or situation, and strategically plan to achieve the best possible solutions.
- Technical aptitude including proficiency with MS office, experience learning and working in an HRMS/HRIS tool, performance development software and/or other related tools successfully.
- A proficiency in public speaking and meeting facilitation with a preference for experience leading workshops or training sessions.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Standard office environment with frequent telephone and computer use.
- Occasional lifting and pushing supplies in excess of 20 pounds.
- Ability and willingness to work in the office at least 3 days per week to engage with leaders and employees, more if as needed.
- All employees are expected to present themselves in a professional manner in alignment with the financial services industry.
HYBRID WORK OPTION
