Job Summary:
This position involves the maintenance and repairs of tribally-owned homes on the Colorado River Indian Reservation and is under the indirect supervision of the H.I.P. Project Administrator, H.I.P. Secretary and direct supervision of the Housing Improvement Coordinator.
Duties & Functions:
- Responsible for efficiently and effectively repairing and improving manufactured and site-built homes
- Work hours that are set by the H.I.P. Coordinator
- Work includes and is not limited to digging trenches, concrete pouring and finishing (slabs and foundations), block laying, rough framing, drywall hanging, roofing, finish carpentry, repair and installing of lighting fixtures, electrical switches and wiring, plumbing fixtures, cabinet installation, heating and cooling equipment, appliances, screens, locks and general cleanup
- Shall be responsible for turning in receipts to H.I.P. Secretary for billing accounting purposes
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Coordinator or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals
- Follow established Tribal policies and those outlined in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook
Required Skills and Abilities:
- Must be able to work well with clients and H.I.P. workers in a cooperative manner
- Must be prompt, reliable and dependable
- Must be safety conscious at all times as the nature of the work is physically demanding
- Must have considerable experience in plumbing, maintenance and repairs of buildings and equipment; safety requirements, and skill in the use and care tools and equipment
Education & Experience Requirements:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- Must possess a current valid driver's license throughout employment as position also includes traveling to pick up parts and materials for work crews
Physical Requirement:
- Be able to stand at least eight (8) hours
- Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to appointment
- Physically able to perform duties assigned
- Must be able to lift, push or pull a minimum of twenty-five (25) pounds
- Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, some weekends and holiday
Tribal and Indian Preference:
The Colorado River Indian Tribes has implemented a Tribal / CRIT Preference in Employment Policy. Pursuant to this Policy, applicants who possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities required by this position, and who are enrolled members of the Colorado River Indian Tribes will be given primary preference in hiring and employment for this position. Let it be known that Tribal preference is integrated into the interview and scoring process for candidates for job positions.
