JOB SUMMARY
Under direction of the Tribal Council, and under the direct supervision of the Tribal Chair, serves in the management of The Colorado River Indian Tribes.
The Tribal Administrator coordinates with all department directors and enterprise managers to participate in functions, assist with special projects, and monitor the day- to-day operations of the Tribes.
The Tribal Administrator oversees the policies, procedures and regulations of CRIT. Performs professional and administrative work directing the management of the government departments and provides management support to the Tribal Enterprises.
This position has the responsibility and oversight for each department and the authority to facilitate the decisions made by Tribal Council.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES
· To effectively manage Tribal operations, responsibilities and duties according to policy, procedure and directives
· Shall be responsible and accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Tribes, including implementation of decisions of the Tribal Council
· Provides management for all government departments and liaison between Department Directors, Enterprise Managers and the Tribal Council
· Reviews issues that can be resolved administratively and takes action(s) as deemed necessary
· Facilitating the preparation of items for submission to the Tribal Council or Admin Committee
· Reviews budget and interacts with the Controller on final budget for adoption by the Tribal Council
· Implements recommendations for corrective action regarding audit findings and operations compliance
· Advises Tribal Council regarding operations and solicits policy guidance from the Tribal Council as appropriate
· Serves as a resource in the development of policy, procedures and approvals for Admin Committee
· Facilitates and advises in the coordination of projects
· Facilitates studies and research for the development and coordination of projects
· Evaluates and supervises subordinates as illustrated by the Organizational Chart
· Prepares concise, written monthly reports, attends meetings when necessary and provides internal communications
· Performs additional related work as required or assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree in Public or Business Administration from an accredited college or university and seven (7) years of responsible administrative and management experience in government, including three (3) years in a managerial or supervisory capacity
· Professional experience in public sector budgets, grants and audits
· Professional experience in communicating effectively verbally and in writing
· Any combination of education, professional training and work experience which demonstrates the potential ability to perform the duties of the position
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Advanced degree in Public or Business Administration from an accredited college or university
· Prior employment or experience with a Native American Tribal Government or Public Sector Employer
· A Tribal Administrator requires an understanding of Native American governance issues as well as specific concerns and practices of the tribes. A familiarity with tribal history and applicable federal regulations for Native American governance are important for this position.
