Minor League Bullpen Catcher
POSITION SUMMARY (PURPOSE OF POSITION)
The Bullpen Catcher is primarily responsible for assisting the team’s players and staff by catching pregame and in-game bullpens, along with other coaching tasks as assigned.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with the day-to-day bullpen catching operations associated with assigned Minor League team.
- Available to assist with pitcher and catcher daily routines.
- Ability to play catch during the daily throwing program, catch flat grounds, and catch bullpens.
- Available to players and staff, before, during, and after the game, to assist with individual and group needs from a bullpen catching perspective.
- Able to set-up, use, and tear down equipment for early work and cage work.
- Ability to throw BP, feed a machine, and hit a fungo.
- Effectively utilize video and data to assist staff and players.
- Assist in the use of Baseball Technology (Trackman, Edgertronic, Blast Motion, PitchBase, TruMedia, etc.).
- Available to catch bullpens/labs during off-season camps (January Camp, Instructional League, Off-Season Voluntary Workouts, etc.).
- All other duties as assigned by the General Manager, Farm Director, Assistant Farm Director, and affiliate Manager.
CANDIDATE EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:
- Bilingual in Spanish (Preferred)
- Pro or collegiate catching experience.
- Passion for the game of baseball.
- Extremely motivated, with a strong work ethic and problem solving skills, with the desire to learn and grow.
- Detail-oriented, strong organization skills, and multi-tasking abilities.
- Ability to develop and maintain successful working relationship with members of the Club’s front office, on-field staff, and players.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication.
- Consistent, punctual, and regular attendance, while presenting a professional image and demeanor.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- To ability to work a flexible schedule with long hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
- Physically able to catch multiple bullpens daily, requiring frequent squatting, kneeling, and quick lateral movements.
- Ability to repeatedly handle, set up, move, and tear down training equipment, including but not limited to pitching machines, nets, and radar tracking devices.
- Must be able to throw batting practice, hit fungos, and participate in on-field drills as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and move quickly in response to game and practice situations.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly.
- Work is primarily performed outdoors, subject to various weather conditions, including high temperatures and humidity.
- Travel will be required.
SALARY RANGE:
- $15/hr. This is a part time position not eligible for all company benefits.
