The Credentialing Specialist is responsible for managing the credentialing process for healthcare providers and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves verifying qualifications, licenses, certifications, and hospital credentials to support the integrity of our healthcare services.
Essential Functions of the Role:
- Collect, verify, and maintain documentation for the credentialing of healthcare providers.
- Conduct background checks and review professional references.
- Ensure timely and accurate completion of credentialing applications.
- Stay up to date with state and federal regulations related to healthcare credentialing.
- Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and organizational policies.
- Maintain and update provider credentialing databases.
- Generate reports and track the status of credentialing applications with local hospitals.
- Serve as a point of contact for healthcare providers regarding credentialing inquiries.
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support the onboarding process.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement within the credentialing workflow.
- Participate in training and development activities related to credentialing practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in credentialing or a related field.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare regulations.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in credentialing software and Microsoft Office Suite.
Desired Qualifications
- Certification from a recognized credentialing organization (e.g., CPCS, CPMSM) is a plus
