Position Scope

The Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC is the largest economic development, chamber of commerce, and business advocacy organization in southern Colorado. We work with industry leaders, educational institutions, military personnel, government, and community agencies and a wide array of community professionals dedicated to developing economic prosperity for our region.

An Executive Director leads and directs projects and programs according to set goals and approved budget. The Executive Director, Source Colorado Springs is responsible for guiding Source Colorado Springs’ work, reporting to the SVP, Marketing, Communications & Sales.

Source Colorado Springs is a Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC program leading a national earned and social media initiative, as well as strategic initiatives to position the region. This initiative will elevate the Colorado Springs region as a thriving hub for talent and innovation. Through strategic storytelling, it will showcase career opportunities in key industries to drive talent, business tourism, and capital investment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Source Colorado Springs, focuses on:

Elevate Colorado Springs’ Reputation

· Drive adoption of a unified regional brand

· Showcase compelling stories to enhance regional perception through national PR strategy

· Provide strategic communications for key initiatives and events

· Promote economic investment and talent attraction by highlighting innovation and growth sectors

Target Audiences

· Primary: Business leaders, young professionals, and stakeholders via media and influencers (e.g., Wall Street Journal, New York Times)

· Secondary: Local residents and visitors

Support business conference recruitment through national PR efforts

· Develop and execute PR campaigns to attract conferences and business events.

· Secure media coverage highlighting Colorado Springs as a premier conference destination.

· Leverage relationships with national journalists and influencers to promote the region’s assets.

· Collaborate with industry partners and stakeholders to align messaging and outreach.

· Position key regional leaders as thought leaders in relevant business and industry discussions.

Strategy & Communication

· Oversee communications and serve as media spokesperson.

· Build and manage a network of digital advocates.

· Set and measure goals to align with Source Colorado Springs program expectations.

Media & Marketing

· Lead earned, social, and digital media strategies.

· Develop content for news placement and brand visibility.

· Manage media relations, crisis response, and positioning strategy adoption.

Regional Engagement

· Cultivate influencer relationships and build brand advocacy.

· Position Source Colorado Springs as a thought leader.

· Ensure regional positioning is adaptable and widely adopted.

Education and Experience

· Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, marketing or related field is required. Five years’ experience in a senior communications role with similar responsibilities.

· Accredited in public relations (APR) or advanced degree a plus.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, web management, and video production.

· Self-aware, responsive to feedback, and detail-oriented.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
