Job Title: 1st grade Teacher
Position Overview
The teacher is responsible for providing top-quality Core Knowledge instruction. The teacher expects excellence and ensures mastery of grade level content and related skills. A high-structure environment is maintained for optimal student performance. In assuming full responsibility for student learning, a high level of academic rigor is established and maintained using careful scaffolding of lessons. Major Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions)
Demonstrates mastery of content area knowledge
- Demonstrates content area knowledge to teach academic subjects
- Demonstrates relevant pedagogical knowledge to teach academic subjects
- Conveys enthusiasm for and interest in content area to engage and inspire students
Plans and prepares lessons
- Creates lessons based on clear sequencing within units
- Designs formal and informal assessments to accurately and regularly measure mastery levels
- Designs learning to be cumulative
Delivers effective instruction
- Provides effective instruction to help students achieve mastery of grade-level content and related skills.
- Communicates expectations clearly and provides regular and meaningful feedback to students and
parents on academic progress
- Monitors student achievement to ensure adequate progression towards course objectives and provides support as needed
- Supports the interventions and accommodations that have been developed for students
Establishes classroom environment
- Creates a positive classroom culture of high academic expectations and student engagement, and mutual respect
- Fairly and justly enforces school discipline expectations so that learning is not impeded
- Strives to motivate the development of strong work habits in students
- Implements Love and Logic principles in student discipline
Maintains high expectations
- Regularly communicates expectations of high standards to all students
- Regularly communicates expectations of best efforts and family support to parents and guardians

Supervision Received
A teacher’s direct report is the Academic Dean. Additional supervision is provided by the Head of School. Evaluations are completed as often as once a semester. Observations and walkthroughs occur frequently and randomly and may include observations by a non-supervisory instructional coach or mentor teacher.
Supervision Exercised
No direct reports. May monitor and coordinate the work of educational assistants.
Qualifications & Skills
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in education or core subject area, or to be deemed in field (or in the process) according to Colorado Department of Education requirements (Colorado teaching license, 36 semester credit hours, or passing score on State Board of Education approved content exam).
Experience: Experience working with K-6 students. Experience in charter, classical, and/or Core Knowledge schools preferred.

Conditions of Employment
- Provide three professional references.

- Work hours are from 7:30am – 3:45pm M-F on most scheduled school days
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $43,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
