GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES : This position is primarily responsible for day-to-day management of the medical assistants within Colorado Springs Orthopaedic Group. The Clinical Supervisor determines, coordinates and supervises daily staffing assignments. Ensures staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures and protocols. While performing these duties, the Clinical Supervisor will hold the position of a float to fill openings in coverage, as necessary.
Essential Functions :
Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned :
- Analyzes and organizes back-office operations and procedures
- Lead back-office staff in understanding / implementing policies and procedures.
- Serves as the key problem-solving resource for all clinic staff / surgical schedulers on patient care and back-office issues.
- Responsible for effective oversight of patient flow, from waiting room to exam room to discharge from the clinic.
- Provide timely input and feedback about employee assignments and provider work patterns that could impact workflow and patient care.
- Provides training for new medical assistants, interns, etc and assists and participates in ongoing training of existing employees.
- Helps establish performance goals for medical assistants.
- Responsible for handling call outs, late arrivals, early departures, etc. to ensure all gaps are covered.
- Assists in ensuring medical assistants are meeting MIPS requirements
- Responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with HIPAA standards.
- Fill in for physician's clinic, as needed or directed by the COO
- Approves PTO requests
- Reviews and approves timecards for direct reports.
- Leads monthly meetings for the team
- Actively participates in the HIPAA and OSHA compliance committee and attends meetings, as required. Replies back to staff items discussed with regards to compliance and directs changes, as necessary.
- Demonstrates the ability to lead with minimal supervision.
Supervisory Responsibilities : Directly supervises medical assistants. Assists with supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Assists Human Resources and Chief Operating Officer with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Requirements :
Education and / or Experience :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
