Payroll Specialist
The Planning and Finance Division is hiring an experienced Payroll Technician to join the Accounting team. In this job, you will provide accounting and payroll processing support for Colorado Springs Utilities, certain joint ventures, and authorities. You can work on a team rotating various payroll tasks processing bi-weekly payroll for all utility employees. Your job responsibilities include...
- Computing wage & overtime payments, calculating tax payments, garnishments, child support and depositing timely, processing retirements and separations
- Coordinating, calculating, and posting adjusting entries to appropriate sub-accounts
- Maintaining annual and quarterly payroll reports, including a complete record of payroll transactions
- Reconciling reports including, but not limited to, taxes, retirement, and vendor accounts
- Recommending, preparing, and documenting changes in payroll processing procedures
- Examining documents to verify accuracy of data, reviewing discrepancies, determining, and correcting out-of-balance condition
- Responding to inquiries from employees, the public, departmental personnel, other staff members, and various groups and organizations
Who You are...The ideal candidate will have 4 years of payroll experience working as a payroll technician responsible for processing payroll, including calculating taxes, child support, garnishments, and payroll functions for a large organization. We are also looking for the following, so please make sure to highlight on your application/resume:
- Experience with INFOR Enterprise Software or similar in-house Payroll system.
- Possessing strong computer and related software skills (e.g., Excel, payroll software systems/applications, Ten Key by touch)
- Data Analysis involving examining time records, wages, benefits, deductions, and taxes, to find errors and optimize processes.
- Producing quality, detailed, accurate, prompt, and reliable results.
- Strong customer service and communication skills, operating ethically and maintaining objectivity and confidentiality.
- Able to work in a team environment and maintain cooperative working relationships at multiple levels within a diverse workforce.
