Description of Work Unit
The Department of Psychology is in CSU’s College of Natural Sciences along with seven other departments: Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, and Statistics. The Department serves approximately 1400 undergraduate majors and 100 graduate students, with approximately 30 full-time faculty members distributed across five doctoral programs: (1) Applied Social and Health Psychology, (2) Cognitive Neuroscience, (3) Cognitive Psychology, (4) Counseling Psychology, and (5) Industrial/Organizational Psychology. The Department also offers two Master’s degrees: (1) Master’s in Addiction Counseling and (2) Master’s in Applied Industrial/Organizational Psychology, which is an online degree. The Department houses several service centers including the Psychological Services Center, supporting graduate training objectives in counseling psychology while serving the CSU population’s mental health needs; the Center for Meaning and Purpose, which focuses on acquiring, creating, and disseminating knowledge about enabling meaning, well-being, and positive health; and the Aging Clinic of the Rockies, which focuses on research, clinical services, and outreach for older adults in the community.
The Department proudly boasts the Tri-Ethnic Center for Prevention Research that concentrates on social problems that affect rural areas. Additionally, the department has an externally funded occupational health psychology training program, funded by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Education and Research Center which provides financial resources to support graduate student education, research, and professional development.
The Department is primarily housed in the Behavioral Sciences Building, a building that was completed in 2010 and was designed to meet LEED Gold Certification standards for environmental quality, innovative design, sustainability, and efficiency. The Behavioral Sciences Building includes office space for all full-time faculty and graduate students, meeting and seminar rooms, state-of-the-art classrooms, numerous lounge and study areas, and a wi-fi café. Also included are faculty research laboratories in cognitive psychology, neuroscience, and sensation and perception that have been designed to specification. Position Summary
Reporting to the IT Coordinator or Psychology, the Assistant IT Coordinator is responsible for: new computer setup, new technology setup (including: displays, printers, and attaching equipment to computers (if necessary), computer maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of computers and installation of programs necessary for operation.
The Assistant IT Coordinator will work independently or under the direction of the IT Coordinator to establish a working environment suitable to the department’s needs. Including communication between end users and IT staff, as well as first rate customer service.
This position relies on a balanced technological skill set including technical capability (analysis, troubleshooting and repairing) and functional capability (tech support, documentation, and training when necessary). Experience with troubleshooting, repair and customer service are critical to the success of this position.
The successful candidate for this position possesses a keen attention to detail, brings strong problem solving skills, and enjoys providing quality customer service to their clients. This IT position is best for someone who enjoys working independently while occasionally working with a team to support highly complex departmental information technology systems. The selected candidate is on who will be comfortable working in high stress situations, and a person who is able to communicate with others who might not understand technical terms. This excellent communicator will be able to easily translate the needs of the departments into elegant, useful technology services with a passion for creating efficient and excellent user experiences. He/She embodies a commitment to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment that supports all forms of diversity, being compelled to eliminate systematic barriers that prevent the realization of a positive and inclusive campus climate for all.

Position Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- Minimum of five years of professional experience in troubleshooting and repair of computers within a College or University setting
- Minimum of one year of professional experience in designing and implementing complex computer systems
- Experience with customer service and excellent communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with both Windows and Mac computer set up, troubleshooting and repair
- Understanding of basic software licensing
- Experience with installation of programs necessary for departmental operations (Office, Endnote, Adobe, etc.) and maintenance of said programs
- Experience with Qualtrics and E-Prime for support of research initiatives in Psychology
- Experience with data analysis programs such as SPSS, SAS, R, R studio
- Experience with sophisticated psychology technology equipment including EEG systems, motion tracking systems and Biopac systems
- Knowledge in HTML and PHP
- Evidence of personal initiative and ability to independently pursue solutions as needs are identified

Remove from package, install additional equipment (as necessary), and set up new computers for both Windows and Mac. This includes: adding additional RAM, additional hard drives, or components requested by user. As well as installation of pre-set (by department) programs necessary for daily operations (Including Office, Adobe Pro, security software, and Firefox). Delivering computer to end user, set up in office or lab, and configuring device/programs to meet user’s needs.
