The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University is one of eight departments in the College of Natural Sciences. The Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching, as well as excellence in research. Faculty research interests include algebra, analysis, combinatorics, differential equations, geometry, inverse problems, math education, mathematical modeling, number theory, scientific computing, and topology, as well as applications of these areas. The Department of Mathematics has around 150 undergraduate majors and 73 graduate students, with currently 29 tenured and tenure-track faculty.

Colorado State University and the Department of Mathematics provide a highly collaborative and supportive environment; a number of faculty have joint appointments in other departments or are engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations and research projects. Position Summary

The Department of Mathematics at Colorado State University invites applications for two tenure-track assistant professor positions in the areas of combinatorics and / or topology. The successful applicants will have a strong research program, as well as a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate mathematics courses as assigned by the Department Chair, as well as the continued development of an excellent and well-recognized research program.

  • Doctorate in Mathematics or related area at the time of appointment.
  • Professional background preparing the candidate for teaching.
  • A research program in one of the areas of our search, either combinatorics or topology.

Service to the department, college, university and community is also encouraged.

  • a cover letter that addresses CSU;
  • a complete curriculum vitae;
  • a teaching statement, limited to 2-4 pages;
  • a research statement, limited to 3-6 pages plus bibliography references;
  • the contact information of 3-5 references who can provide a letter of recommendation, with at least one addressing teaching; and
  • a 1-2 page personal statement on their contributions to diversity and inclusion.

    Letters of Recommendation : Your referees will be emailed a request for a letter of reference immediately upon submission of your application. The preference is that at least one letter should address your teaching and at least one letter should address your research.
