Description of Work Unit
The work unit provides landscaping services, care, renovation, repair, and maintenance to grounds at Colorado State University.
Position Summary
The position maintains the Colorado State University urban forest (trees) by pruning, trimming, removing, planting, as well as pest management for trees/shrubs.

Assist in planning, organizing, and oversight of the tree care maintenance program. Perform tree/shrub maintenance operations including planting, pruning, and removing plant material to ensure the health and longevity of the CSU urban forest. Evaluate trees to identify the need for pruning, treatments, removal, etc. Specify and order materials needed to prune/trim plant material safely and properly.

Description of Work Unit

Position Summary
The position maintains the Colorado State University urban forest (trees) by pruning, trimming, removing, planting, as well as pest management for trees/shrubs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of progressively responsible tree care and maintenance which must have include knowledge of proper pruning techniques and tree removal practices, climbing and aerial lift experience.
- Ability to obtain ISA certification within 6 months of employment.
Preferred Qualifications
- ISA certification
- Bachelors degree in horticulture, forestry or closely related field
- Knowledge of Horticulture, Landscape design, or Arboriculture
- Experience and ability to maintain trees by pruning, trimming, removing, planting, as well as pest management for trees/shrubs
- Knowledge of tree removal practices
- Experience climbing and aerial lift
- Ability to Identify disease, insect infestation and implement remedies in accordance to IPM program
- Experience with snow removal and equipment
- Experience with assisting in the oversight of a tree care maintenance program
- Skills in data entry using GIS applications ( as related to tree inventory)
- Related state service experience
