Description of Work Unit
The Office of the Vice President for Research has overall responsibility for promoting and facilitating the research enterprise at Colorado State University ( CSU ). The Office of the Vice President for Research will enable the University, its faculty, staff, and students to emerge as a world-class research institution complementing our learning, service, and outreach missions. The Office of the Vice President for Research will lead the 21st Century Land-Grant mission of CSU by fostering and supporting the research enterprise, promoting scholarship and artistry, instilling a culture of integrity, inclusion and diversity, and capitalizing on opportunities to address global challenges.
The Office of Industry Research Contracting within the Office of the Vice President for Research is responsible for engaging private industry to develop and strengthen relationships, structure partnerships, and negotiate research and collaboration agreements. Overseen by the Assistant Vice President for Research Translation and Communication, the office handles contract negotiations directly with industry partners in areas including intellectual property, liability, indemnity, governmental immunity, open records, confidentiality, and publication. The office also serves as a resource for general business and transactional support for the research division.

Position Summary
The Office of Industry Research Contracting within the Office of the Vice President for Research ( OVPR ) at Colorado State University is seeking an Industry Contracts Manager. This is a full-time, 12-month administrative professional position and reports to the Director.
The Industry Contracts Manager coordinates the negotiation, execution, and administration of industry research agreements. This requires an understanding and balancing of business and academic terms desirable to the university; business aims and context of the industry research funder; legal, regulatory, and policy strictures; and the specific priorities present within each individual project.
The Industry Contracts Manager serves a critical role in the industry research lifecycle. Their work helps establish the tenor and set expectations for communication and coordination with both industry sponsors and university partners while helping track and monitor the performance of each party during the ensuing research relationship. Close coordination with the Office of Sponsored Programs is required to ensure agreements are integrated into the universitys research administration workflow and are subsequently tracked within the Office of Industry Research Contracting.
In performing this work, the Industry Contracts Manager communicates directly with university researchers, university administrators, and industry partners. A significant legal and administrative knowledge base surrounding commercial contracting must be developed and maintained. In addition, the Industry Contracts Manager must develop a strong understanding of the policy and compliance needs within the university itself and liaise with the various offices that govern each area.
