Description of Work Unit
This new employee will be located at the Colorado State University (CSU) with the One Water Solutions Institute. The One Water Solutions Institute (OWSI) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE), provides world-class research and innovative technologies to promote collaboration between CSU and outside partners such as local governments, private sector / industry members and non-profit organizations. OWSI is home to several national research initiatives and specific efforts underway to address a variety of water sustainability challenges. The fundamental research and resulting products developed by OWSI facilitate adoption of "One Water" strategies with a focus on technological, institutional, and financial pathways toward sustainable management of water and linked systems. The CEE Department at CSU is recognized both nationally and internationally for its education, research, and service and outreach programs, and is ranked in the top 40 of such programs in the USA. The CEE Department consists of 36 tenured and tenure- track faculty, 16 research scientists / scholars, 27 research associates, and 11 administrative professionals. About the Spur Campus : The CSU System, along with its partners, recently opened three buildings focused on water, food and agriculture, animal health, and sustainability at CSU Spur at the National Western Center (NWC). Within the Spur buildings, CSU will conduct research and convene experts from around the globe; students of all ages will engage with science and technology, and have opportunities for exploratory learning, transforming their thinking about food, water, and health and the careers available in these fields. Partners will participate in programming the space and bring evolving content to the year-round campus. These facilities include laboratory space, classrooms, public education spaces, outdoor spaces, a flexible theater, a rooftop greenhouse and more. Position Summary
This position is primarily responsible for the development of web applications for water models, geospatial analysis, and statistical assessments using the Microsoft .NET, Blazor, and ESRI ArcGIS Pro software stacks. The applications focus on prioritization of alternative stormwater control systems at the neighborhood to city levels. Activities will support deployment and testing of the methods, data analysis tools, and models as web applications in the OWSI cloud environment.
