The Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship (FRS) at Colorado State University is an interdisciplinary academic program uniquely poised to advance education, research, and outreach in forest and rangeland ecosystems. Existing programs of emphasis in the department include forest and rangeland ecology, natural resource management, fire science, vegetation measurement and biometry, policy and planning, and restoration ecology. Position Summary
The Postdoctoral researcher will work on a Forest Service funded project assessing the impacts of fuel reduction treatments (i.e., thinning and prescribed burning) on multiple forest resources including wildlife habitat and diversity. The researcher will integrate multiple data sources including wildlife occurrence and abundance data, remotely sensed products, and spatial records of forest treatment activities. Outcomes of this work will include scientific publications, data support tools, and/or presentations to partners. The postdoctoral researcher will work primarily at Colorado State University as well with the Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station (RMRS). The researcher will also collaborate with a broader group of partners that may include scientists and practitioners at the Forest Service, Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the US Geological Survey, and Colorado State Forest Service. The postdoctoral researcher will be expected to work in Fort Collins with optional part-time remote work. Funding for this position is available for at least 1 year with additional funds possible.

Required Job Qualifications
- A PhD in ecology, geography, data science, or related discipline
- A desire to contribute to a positive and safe working environment.
- Strong programing skills (e.g., R, Python, BUGS, Stan)
- Experience in advanced statistical techniques (e.g., Bayesian hierarchical models or movement analyses)
- Experience with memory-intensive computations, such as the analysis of remote sensing datasets
- A strong scientific publication record.
- Expertise in wildlife, disturbance, or forest ecology
- Interest in developing science to support management
- Interest in working collaboratively within a research team

- Designing and applying statistical models to existing and newly collected forest, treatment, and wildlife data.
- Assist in periodic field collection of wildlife and forestry data
- Publishing manuscripts and otherwise disseminate research findings to project partners and practitioners
- Set up timelines to deliver manuscripts and other products according to agreed upon deadlines
- Adjust analysis emphasis to meet management and project needs
- Coordinate with team members
- Participating in collaborative meetings with forest managers and other partners
