Description of Work Unit
The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school that enrolls more than 2,500 undergraduate students in eight business concentrations and approximately 1,500 graduate students across eight graduate programs. We are a top-ranked school with the #1 Online MBA program in Colorado and #10 in the nation. Our staff and faculty represent the caliber of our institution and continuously work to enhance the student experience and research impact of our school-wide efforts.
The College’s marketing and communications team is responsible for brand and revenue generation strategies and tactics across audiences, including prospective students, current students, staff/faculty, executives, alumni, academic influencers, the CSU campus community, donors and the business community.
This role will be essential to enhancing and maintaining our external presence through our digital front door – the College of Business website.
Position Summary
The Web Content Coordinator writes content, makes updates, and enhances the school-wide website by creating compelling content that supports user journeys, increases SEO and supports branding and revenue goals.
This involves both crafting new content, as well as maintaining and refreshing existing content and imagery. This role has primary responsibility for enforcing web governance compliance, creating weekly and annual content calendaring, developing brand-focused web content, and enhancing web content to optimize SEO and other digital metrics. This position is also responsible for reporting and analysis for SEO-related areas.
This role will be instrumental to helping create unified experiences for all our external audiences on the website and will work closely with other marketing and communications content creators who will contribute to key areas of the site, as well as our UI/UX designer, and web programmer.
Our ideal candidate: You are adept at persuasive writing, understand digital strategy and are comfortable creating content and using metrics to inform potential improvements and future initiatives. You’re particularly passionate about brand cohesion and user experiences. Whether the focus is on conversions, SEO, linking strategies, on-page conversions or another performance metric, you can balance brand impression with web performance
You have experience using content management systems, Google Analytics (GA4), SEO reporting tools and have an aptitude for learning new technologies.

Required Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, English, or related-field
- 3 years work experience in a digital writing role (web articles, social, email, marketing campaigns or other digital platforms)
- Experience with persuasive short and long-form writing (eg – headline copy to long-form stories)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of website communication accessibility standard WCAG 2.2
- Experience managing and updating content in WordPress or similar

Preferred Job Qualifications
- 1 year of demonstrated SEO-content or analysis related work

- Demonstrates ability to understand and capture audience needs and translate those needs into compelling content.
- Creates new brand- and SEO-friendly web content and works with team members as needed to establish effective user experiences. For existing site areas, this includes writing, visual selection and technical implementation in content management system with appropriate tagging and accessibility items addressed. May receive content from other team members in their areas of responsibility and implement on website using best practices.
- Develops web content that works holistically in paid and organic strategies and integrates with print, outdoor, editorial, video and social assets in the College’s brand ecosystem. Coordinates with other team members to understand how their areas of responsibility will impact traffic to the website.
- Performs image optimization, tagging and manipulation tasks such as creating thumbnails, image resize, file format conversion, simple image edits and labeling with alternative text.
- Verifies that content is approved through proper channels and systems prior to posting.
- Maintains integrity of information and assets in content management system.
- Maintains metadata and other inputs in the system to optimize search engine results.
- Continually monitors the website to ensure that content is current, compliant with accessibility standards and pages are free of errors.
- Writes content and supports creative selection and development of assets for blogs or other content initiatives identified to improve website performance and metrics. May oversee student resources to support larger initiatives.

- Provides traffic reporting and recommendations
- Works with UI/UX designer, web programmer to create an effective content management ecosystem that achieves college-wide goals and supports scalability, maintenance and nimbleness in content shifts.
- Creates and analyzes keywords for major areas of focus (e.g. – business schools, undergraduate, MBA, executive MBA and brand themes) and integrates these into content. Establishes ‘top 20’ lists on a quarterly basis to help guide content efforts for website.
- Supports education of broader team on SEO needs and knowledge of keywords so all content creators can support keyword and other SEO needs when crafting content.
- Monitors and analyzes SEO performance through reporting tools to proactively address issues.
- Provides monthly SEO reporting and issues identification to help identify areas for short- and long-term improvement.
- Performs quarterly content audit of website to ensure metadata and content issues impacting SEO performance are identified and addressed in a timely manner.
- Uses student resources to support deeper research and timely analysis of SEO-related needs.
- Performs SEO technical audits on an annual or bi-annual basis to identify issues, and needs, and recommends potential larger initiatives.
- Stays current on algorithm updates and other trends and projects their impact on website performance and content strategy.
