What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Assistant position at Colorado Veterinary Specialty Group?
CVSG is a privately owned specialty and emergency hospital that has provided care to pets in Denver and the surrounding communities for over 15 years. Our specialty departments include Surgery, Sports Medicine/Rehabilitation, Reproductive Medicine, and Radiology with Oncology to be added mid-2025. We are looking for a talented ER Assistant to join us and collaborate with our close-knit and dedicated crew.
Who we are looking for: ER Veterinary Assistant- Day and Swing Shifts ($1.50/hr shift differential for overnight shifts)

What you’ll do:
- Meet with clients to discuss their pet's symptoms and health history
- Assist technicians and physicians with patient assessment, treatment and restraint for procedures
- Animal handling and patient care
- Partner with patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication and nursing care concerns
- Provide client education including, but not limited to: home care instructions, medications (indications, adverse reactions) and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients
- Help with preparation of lab samples
- Keep the hospital clean and the treatment and exam rooms well-stocked
Who you are:
- A minimum of one year of experience working in a veterinary ER hospital setting
- Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours when necessary
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
