Key responsibilities of a lube tech:
- Oil changes: Draining old engine oil and replacing it with new oil according to manufacturer specifications.
- Fluid level checks: Monitoring and topping off other fluids like brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
- Tire rotations: Regularly rotating tires to ensure even wear
- Basic inspections: Checking for potential issues like leaks, worn tires, brake wear, and malfunctioning lights
- Filter replacements: Changing oil filters and air filters as needed
- Minor repairs: Replacing windshield wipers, battery checks, and other minor maintenance tasks
- Customer interaction: Explaining services to customers and addressing any concerns
- Maintaining cleanliness: Keeping the work area clean and organized
Required skills and abilities:
- Mechanical aptitude: Basic understanding of vehicle systems and how to access components
