OVERVIEW:

 

The Sales Representative will serve as the point of contact, driving business growth throughout the sales process—promoting/advertising services, generating new leads, managing customer relationships, ordering supplies, and scheduling/closing sales—for residential and commercial customers. The Sales Representative will have a strong sales background and use effective communication to assess customers’ needs, explore solutions, provide education on products/services, present tailored solutions, and deliver professional follow-through. Prior experience/knowledge of epoxy/polyaspartic materials (or similar) being applied to concrete coatings is required. 


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Lead Generation and Prospecting:

  • Identify and pursue new sales opportunities through a variety of approaches which include cold calling, digital marketing campaigns/social media, referrals, networking, and community events.
  • Research and target residential and commercial prospective customers (property owners/managers, industrial parks, local municipalities, and businesses in need of flooring solutions) who would benefit from high-quality concrete coatings.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads, ensuring a steady flow of potential customers for small-scale commercial accounts and large-scale residential projects.

On-Site Evaluations and Consultations:

  • Conduct in-person site visits to evaluate the condition of concrete surfaces, assess customer needs, and discuss/present appropriate concrete coating options based on surface condition, indoor/outdoor environment, intended use, and aesthetic preferences, etc.
  • Provide education and guidance to customers on product selection (ex. polyaspartic, polyurea, epoxy, and decorative coatings like flake system, quartz, metallic pours, grind and seal), sharing the specific benefits and outcomes of each of these products to assist customers in making informed decisions.
  • Establish rapport and trust by setting realistic project expectations with customers, demonstrating knowledge of the product and installation process, and scheduling projects in a timely manner.
  • Collect initial deposit check from new customer (50% of project total cost) and turn initial deposits collected into Owner within 24 hours.

Proposal Creation and Presentation:

  • Prepare detailed, clear project proposals that outline recommended products, services, pricing, and timelines within 3 business hours of initial customer meeting; if needed, collaborate with Owner to ensure customer requests/project details are accurate and realistic.
  • Effectively communicate the value proposition of concrete coatings, emphasizing durability, long-term protection, ease of maintenance, and the benefits to residential and commercial applications.

Relationship Building and Excellent Customer Service Experience:

  • Cultivate long-term relationships with new/existing customers with consistent and effective communication throughout the sales process and after project completion.
  • Engage with both residential homeowners and commercial decision-makers to meet their needs, striving to exceed expectations to foster repeat business, generate positive online customer reviews, and maintain a pipeline of referrals.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for customer inquiries, ensuring prompt responses, and any follow-up/follow-through needed, while resolving any concerns during or after the installation process.

Sales Process Management and Closing:

  • Effectively manage the sales pipeline: track leads, meet profit margins, follow up on quotes, and document sales activities in a tracking system.
  • Qualify leads, negotiate terms, and close sales, ensuring that customer contracts are completed and signed, with clear expectations set for installation timelines and payment terms.
  • Meet or exceed established sales targets and quotas.
  • Provide ongoing updates to Owner on sales progress, customer feedback, and any market trends/competition.

Coordination with Installation and Operations Teams:

  • Work closely with the Owner for smooth coordination between the sales process and the execution of concrete coatings projects.
  • Communicate project details, timelines, and customer preferences from sales to installation, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the customers’ satisfaction; follow up with customers, post-installation for feedback and/or to address any potential issues or concerns.

Market and Product Knowledge:

  • Stay current with industry trends, new product offerings, and competitive pricing of services.
  • Attend training sessions, product demonstrations, and industry events to increase knowledge of the concrete coatings market and educate customers on the most suitable options for their projects.

·       Willingness to share feedback and best practices to improve overall sales strategies within the company.

Customer Service and Follow-Up:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by promptly and professionally addressing customer questions/concerns.
  • Maintain a customer-centric approach from the initial consultation through to project completion.
  • Manage customer expectations and review post-installation issues in a timely and efficient manner, for customer satisfaction and repeat business.

 

SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS:

 

Sales Experience: Ability to generate leads, close sales, maintain profit margins, and effectively manage a pipeline; effectiveness in assessing/identifying customers’ needs, scope of project, tailoring solutions, and taking accurate estimations on project costs.

Industry Knowledge of Concrete Coatings: Prior knowledge of concrete coatings products and their applications (e.g., polyaspartic, polyurea, epoxy, vinyl chip and quartz systems, metallic pours, stains, grind and seal, and other decorative finishes); ability to measure square feet for residential and commercial floor projects; knowledge of floor preparation, installation processes, and maintenance considerations for coatings.

Excellent Communication Skills: Competency in explaining the concrete coating process to customers in a simple, engaging way; strong writing skills for creating professional proposals, emails, and customer correspondence; active listening skills to understand customer needs and provide customized recommendations.

Customer-Oriented Mindset: Commitment to delivering excellent customer service and building lasting positive customer relationships; follow-up with customers post-sale to encourage 5-star reviews, referrals, and repeat business; being proactive in addressing customer concerns and resolving any issues during or after the installation process.

Negotiation Skills: Ability to secure sales that honor company price structure and maintain customer trust; being comfortable discussing pricing, contract terms, and work proposals with customers in competitive situations.

Self-Motivation and Initiative: Trouble shoot customer concerns/challenges while offering alternatives; having a desire to meet and exceed sales targets; being self-disciplined to work independently while managing multiple projects and customers and collaborate with Owner and team members as needed.

Time Management and Organization: Excellent organizational skills to manage a busy sales pipeline, track customer interactions, meet deadlines, and effectively prioritize immediate and long-term sales goals/projects.

Relationship-Building Skills: The ability to build rapport and establish trust with diverse homeowners, business owners, commercial property managers, key decision makers, and team members; showing a genuine interest in helping customers, while having the energetic drive to succeed in a competitive market.

Adaptability and Resilience: Flexibility to adjust sales solution strategies based on current market conditions or customer requirements; the ability to handle rejection while continuing to pursue new leads with a positive outlook.

Technical Aptitude: Using sales tools or software to track leads, manage customer data, and report on sales activities. (e.g., taking measurements, cost estimation, project management tools).

Attention to Detail: Accuracy in preparing proposals, providing estimates, and creating contracts.

Positive Attitude/Enthusiasm: A can-do attitude and enthusiasm for the products and services being offered.

Growth Mindedness: Openness for continuous learning about current industry trends, product innovations, and sales techniques; desire for personal and professional development within the company.
