Summary
The employee is responsible for safely operating and maintaining converting machines. The incumbent will be involved in line start-ups, observing product, packaging product, operational maintenance, and cleaning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Perform manufacturing operations skills based upon work cell assigned in conjunction with standard operating procedures and desired cycle time pace, quality standards, and safety procedures; will perform the following based upon assignment:
- Check labels to the job order.
- Check the blade.
- Verify the boxes, wickets and cardboard to the job order.
- Check bags as required.
- Use Vision Inventory System and enter production data into the computer.
- Assemble boxes together to contain the bags for the customers. Pack boxes correctly. Place the appropriate label on the boxes. Stack boxes accordingly.Responsible for reporting any potential quality or safety issues to their supervisor or a member of management.
- Identify quality issues, prevent further processing.
- Make wickets and numbers for the job order.
- Check the inker and roll, change as needed.
- Sweep area around the machine and wipe down machine.
- Maintain all productions efficiency, including run speed.
- Troubleshoot issues with quality or productivity related to the team or the machine.
- Make adjustments to machinery as needed.
- Responsible for filling out necessary paperwork.
- Train others as needed.
- Maintain compliance in the Converting Department in regards to OSHA regulations, Food Safety, Quality and Plant regulations.
- Will perform the above duties and any other duties assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Education: GED or High School Diploma preferred.
- Experience: 1 year solid work history with prior experience within manufacturing setting preferred.
- Ability to work alone or as a team employee with minimal supervision.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills.
- Ability to read a measuring tape.
- Demonstrable cognitive ability to read words and numbers in English, follow verbal and written instructions in English, and work independently; ability to add, subtract, multiple, and divide in units of measure to 1/16”.
- Willing to work overtime as needed, and be able to work well under the pressure of deadlines.
- Follows and adheres to all safety policies, including maintaining a safe and organized work area.
- Willingness to continuously learn and be open to feedback to improve individual performance.
