Position Summary
This position is responsible for the technical support of six (6) compounding lines in Morristown. This position will conceptualize, develop and carry out the implementation/startup of new products, supervise test runs and submit manufacturing feedback reports to Commercial & Product Development, train supervisors and operators in specific tasks, assist in the development of new procedures, initiate and execute enhancements/improvements to existing processes that reduce scrap, transition time, increase run rates and support technologies to address current and future plant needs.
Essential Job Duties/Responsibilities
- Manages the Trial process of new products, including but not limited to the Trial Review meeting, formulation & running conditions setup
- Supports Manufacturing, Product Development and Sales by providing technical lead during initial product development stages such as: involvement in design review, supervise trial runs, create, and submit Manufacturing Feedback reports, created and update SOCs
- Provide technical support expertise in the manufacturing process to reduce and eliminate quality deficiencies of end product
- Provide technical support by initiating continuous improvement activities
- Develop, implement, and execute programs to improve equipment operational effectiveness, yield/waste, rates, and material flow
- Setup & Maintain SOCs in NAV. Request formula changes
- Identifies solutions related to process flow within the plant
- Research, develop and write detailed engineering studies for product, processes, and trends related to production deficiencies
- Provide feasibility studies on various processes to improve plant and production sustainability
- Update / create Production Structures
- Monitor Datagate & Provis daily for trends outside of predetermined controlled SOCs
- Act to correct out-of-control processes as identified by process control charts, production efficiency reports, etc.
- Assist with preparation of cost analysis associated with producing new products
- Serve on the Safety Committee
- Assist in researching Operations related customer complaints
- Travel may be required

Supervisory Responsibilities:
No direct supervisory responsibility but provides functional or technical guidance to other staff within a work group or unit. May be required to provide some advice on policies and procedures to staff.
- Required Skills/Abilities
- Strong polymer and polymer processing knowledge preferred
- Advanced PC Skills including proficiency in Windows, Excel, Word & Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, and CAD
- Superior time management & organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication (written and oral) skills
- A thorough knowledge in root cause analysis is essential, supported by advanced knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics
- Educated in the methods of measurement systems preferred
Education and Experience
- B.S. degree in Chemical, Polymer, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, preferably in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Polymer, or Industrial disciplines. Exceptions will be made when practical experience exists and performance in a prior technical position has been demonstrated.
- A Minimum of five (5) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
