POSITION SUMMARY
The Technical Service Chemist provides internal support to technical service, clients and the companys Sales team through lab testing and consultation with Technical Service Representatives. The position will conceptualize, develop and carry out tech service projects involving product test methods, work instructions, software implementation and usage within the Tech Service lab. This position performs various laboratory analyses requested by the Technical Service and R&D Groups, providing reports and preliminary analysis. This role will serve as analytical laboratory testing expert and is responsible for modifying and developing analytical testing methods.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Product Testing
Develop, implement and execute programs to improve Technical Service testing methodologies
Performs testing and & carries out technical service & new product development activities
Provide follow-up application development including the preparation of blown & cast films, injection or blow molded samples using compounds & concentrates made on the development lines
Performs lab testing on concentrate & application samples
Health & Safety
Follows all Health and Safety policies and procedures including wearing appropriate PPE when required and promptly reporting unsafe behaviors or work conditions. Participates in all scheduled safety training.
Technical Assistance
Assists with solving technical problems by helping in developing solutions to implement at customer locations based on previous customer feedback or requests.
Assists Technical Service Reps in responding to customer complaints, isolating problems and reporting results to Sales, customers and/or product development.
Industry Presence
Maintains Colortechs industry presence by representing Colortech at industry conferences & trade shows.
Assists experienced Technical Service Reps in developing and facilitating customer presentations, web seminars, publications, articles, etc.

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Specialized education equivalent to a Bachelors Degree. Requires application of knowledge in a specialized field. Ability to plan & organize work. Capable of solving problems of a difficult nature, within field of specialization.
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related field is required.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Knowledge of analytical test instrumentation, color, plastics and compounding processing technology is strongly desired. Prefer 1 year of laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment as well as strong polymer and polymer processing knowledge.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to communicate both in verbal/written format with internal personnel at a level of negotiating and a level which may involve considerable explanation or persuasion.
COMPLEXITY & DECISION MAKING
Diversified work for which general plans and methods exist. Responsible for plans, methods and the coordination of work within a department or unit. Decisions require reference to various procedures, and analysis of facts to determine appropriate action.
