What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Director of EMS position at Colquitt Regional Medical Center?
The Assistant Director refers to a Paramedic who, in addition to Paramedic responsibilities, is assigned specific management responsibilities by the director. She/he is directly responsible to the director and provides continuity of Leadership. She/he is responsible for the evaluation and prioritization of activities to meet the changing demands on a shift-to-shift basis.
Leadership Capabilities
- Supports the standards of pre-hospital emergency care through adherence to existing protocols, policies and procedures.
- Supervises care given by all personnel, providing instruction as needed.
- Regularly attends conference and makes recommendations for improvement in patient care and EMS operations.
- Participates in peer review in staff development and engagement activities.
- Effective communication with other leaderships at Colquitt Regional Medical Center and other entities outside of organization.
- Management of EMS operations during designated shift.
- Knowledge of s and staff adherence to Human Resource policies and communications to department director as needed.
- Assist with management of staffing.

- When staffing is less than desired or call volume is high the AD resumes the captains role and relieve Captain of any added responsibility. AD will assist with responding to calls with a high call volume.
- Assist with scheduling.
- Will assist with annual evaluations and meet with staff.
- Annual completion of World Health Organization hand hygiene education and training and its relationship to infection control in addition to physical demonstration and understanding of compliance monitoring.
- Schedule, Organize, and Conduct training for EMS staff. Apply for CEU hours from the Office of EMS.
- Organized and provide competency checkoffs annually for all EMS staff and 90 day competencies for new hires.
- Complete reports as directed by Director.
- Oversee vehicle repairs of ambulances and reports back to captains and director.
- Review each shift operation and report to the director any issue with compliance, safety, patient care, response, and preparedness.
Education
Required- Associates or better in Paramedic
