Position Summary:
We are actively hiring for a Compounding Pharmacy Technician to fill prescriptions at a high volume pharmacy. You must possess the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced work environment. Excellent communication and organizational skills, be patient focused, as well as aptitude in using computers is essential.
Position Responsibilities:
- Compounding support technician will be appropriately trained on USP 800 guidelines
- This technician will be responsible for performing lab duties compounding under the direct supervision of the lab supervisor and PIC.
- Compounding technicians will demonstrate the ability to work as a team member and always consider patient and employee safety
- Data entry: new patient profiles and medication updates.
- Strong communication and solid time management skills
- Answering phone and triaging calls from doctors, patients. caregivers, etc.
- Process new and refill prescription orders in a timely manner, follow up essential.
- Assist with prior authorization claims.
- Prepare medication for pharmacist check.
- Complying with established procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Understanding confidentiality with respect to patient/ client care; complying with all federal and state laws applicable to the confidentiality of protected health information (PHI) and electronic protected health information (EPHI); and following HIPAA guidelines regarding readily identifiable protected health information.
- The compounding support personnel will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of the lab. This will include but not be limited to: Washing lab ware, cleaning shelves, organizing drugs, performing equipment maintenance, changing filters in hoods, washing floors, washing walls, removing trash, breaking down boxes, cleaning the storage room, assisting the compounders with daily tasks
Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience in a compounding pharmacy a plus.
- Strong commitment to providing excellent customer care required.
- Positive and effective communication with customers, co-workers, & the medical community; required.
- Ability to work in a fast paced multi-tasking environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Experience working as part of a team.
