STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Summary:
The Columbia Association Staff Accountant serves as an assistant to the Senior Manager of Accounting Operations and is responsible for: 1) maintaining the Lawson module for cash book; 2) preparation of financial reports and statements; 3) assist with the preparation of work papers for the annual budget and quarterly board report; 4) assist with the preparation of specific audit work papers; 5) other miscellaneous treasury and accounting functions.
Essential functions:
1. Performing specific CA treasury and accounting functions: Incumbent is responsible for performing various treasury and accounting functions which include:
Bank Reconciliation: Prepares or serves as backup for the preparation of bank reconciliations and may assist with necessary research to reconcile CA cash accounts.
Cash Receipts: Incumbent is responsible for the processing of the daily facility cash receipts work, recording of cash over/shorts, collection and review of weekly manager cash reporting, record receivables for misc. items, tracing ach payments to the CRM system, and insuring that timely deposits are being made.
Membership Reporting: Prepares membership count reports for internal use as well as reporting to the board. Assists Senior Accountant with membership visit data used for revenue allocations.
2. Preparation of Specific Schedules/Work papers for the Annual Budget and Quarterly Board Report:
Prepares graphs of financial information and membership reporting included in the quarterly Board Report and Annual Budget.
3. Preparation of Specific Annual Audit Schedules/Work papers:
Prepares necessary audit work papers for cash and membership reporting.
4. Miscellaneous Accounting Functions:
Prepares miscellaneous schedules and analyses as requested.
Assists Accounting Team with account analysis, variance analysis and research, writing journal entries, check requests, purchase orders, receiving on invoices, etc.
Assists Fixed Asset Accountant with annual inventory.
Assists Senior Accountant with preparing sales and use tax report.
Maintains a schedule and is responsible for payment of all real estate taxes.
Performs other special projects and tasks as needed.
5. Maintains the Lawson module (for cash book): Accountant is responsible for communicating effectively with Lawson technical support and internal IT staff when errors occur in the Lawson module, including follow-up to ensure technical fixes are completed satisfactorily.
Requirements, Qualifications and skills:
Associate’s degree in accounting and/or 2 years of accounting experience
Experience with preparation of financial statements, month-end closing, and journal entries preferred.
Proficiency in Excel
Excellent Communication skills
Analytical and technical knowledge of computerized accounting applications
Ability to learn to work with CA’s membership system to the extent required in processing ach and cash transactions and monthly reconciliations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to work in an office setting. Currently, this position offers a hybrid work environment, requiring two days in the office per week. Hybrid schedule availability is subject to change at senior management’s discretion.
The salary range for this position $56,160 to $65,000. The actual salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position and the budgeted amount for the role.
