Here's how you will support our mission
We are looking for a passionate and dedicated respiratory therapy professor to deliver a diverse array of courses in Respiratory Care through lab, simulation, and didactic instruction consistent with the ongoing needs of the Respiratory Therapy department. The ideal candidate should demonstrate versatility, keen interest in multiple respiratory care specialties, and an openness to teach using different formats and cutting-edge, inclusive educational methods.

This position reports to the Dean for Health Sciences.

The salary range for this position is $77,693-$81,624 for a 176-day contract over the Instructional Year (Fall/Winter/Spring Quarters). Additional compensation may be available for assignment of summer quarter courses or courses taught outside of the full-time position during fall, winter and spring quarters. This position is in a hard to fill discipline eligible for additional money per MOU 002 - Hard to Fill Supplemental Pay and would receive an additional stipend of $5,950. This is not a guarantee of compensation and is subject to funding.

Relocation expenses are part of the employment offer for the successful candidate if the candidate relocates to the Tri-Cities area from outside of a 175-mile radius.

Primary Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Respiratory Care or a related field from an institutionally accredited college or university or currently enrolled in a qualifying Master's program at time of application;
  • Unencumbered License as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in the State of Washington or have the ability to become licensed at time of hire;
  • Valid Registered Respiratory Therapy (RRT) credential;
  • Four (4) years of experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist with at least two (2) years in clinical respiratory care;
  • Two (2) years of experience teaching either as an appointed faculty member in a CoARC-accredited respiratory care program or as a clinical instructor/preceptor for students of such programs;
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and other computer applications as appropriate; and
  • Demonstrated experience or commitment to supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives in professional or educational settings, particularly in relation to Hispanic and underserved communities. This includes personal and professional efforts to address challenges faced by these populations and advocate for their success.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish;
  • Community college teaching experience; and
  • Experience with Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) standards of accreditation for Respiratory Therapy programs.

This is a bargaining unit position represented by the Association for Higher Education (AHE). Compensation and benefits are subject to the collective bargaining process. There will be paid comprehensive onboarding and training beginning August 1, 2025, but the contract for this position begins on September 1, 2025. This is a tenure track position and will begin the three-year tenure process in fall quarter 2025. More information about the tenure process can be found in Chapter 28B.50 RCW governing Washington State Community and Technical Colleges.

The College will only sponsor visas for positions in disciplines that are deemed hard to fill or when a search is unlikely to result in a hire.   • Provide proof of lawful permanent residency or other appropriate work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform Control Act of 1986.

  • Pass a criminal background check. Note: information learned during the criminal background check will not necessarily preclude employment but may be a factor in eligibility for the position.
  • Maintain an alcohol-free and drug-free workplace during employment.
  • Verify education at time of hire.
