Description
Temporary hourly positions are exempt from the Higher Education Personnel rules and must not work more than 1050 hours or more than twelve (12) consecutive months from the original date of hire, whichever comes first. The length of employment and the number of hours worked per week are undetermined and may be continued or terminated based on funding, workload fluctuations, etc. There is no contract or guarantee of continued employment.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Recreation Center (SRC) Attendants are expected to have an outgoing demeanor, interact with patrons on a regular basis, be available to work non-traditional hours (i.e. early mornings, evenings and/or weekends), and support and implement Fitness Center policies and procedures in a positive manner. Specific duties include:
- Provide courteous service to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors that enter the facility;
- Conduct orientations for new students and members visiting the Fitness Center;
- Be alert while students, faculty, staff, and visitors are exercising;
- Educate patrons about and enforce Fitness Center and campus rules and policies;
- Maintain cleanliness of the Fitness Center and all equipment within the facility;
- Receive visitors, answer telephones, and supply information to the staff, students and the general public; make referrals as appropriate;
- Provide clerical assistance to program/department staff to include but not limited to, filing, copying, distribution of documents, processing in-coming mail and email messages;
- Prepare standardized documents such as letters, emails and/or responses to requests for information; review documents or records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with the rules; and
- Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Experience working in a fitness/gym facility or recreation center and familiar with fitness facility operations;
- Experience in customer service;
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint); and
- Must be able to work regular schedule (hours are Monday - Thursday 4:00 p.m. - 7:15 p.m. and Saturday's 8:00 a.m. - noon.; hours are subject to change).
Process Note
