Overview
Responsible for providing dental hygiene care for dental patients. The Hygienist must be able to perform to all the duties allowed according to pursuant of RCW 18.29. Functions of dental hygiene, in addition to normal patient care duties expected of a hygienist are under general supervision unless noted.
Hygienist: $76,891-$96,114 DOE with ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates.

Responsibilities
Performs preliminary patient evaluations of intra/extra oral exams and record findings.
Monitors and records vital signs each visit.
Assesses and completes health history every 6 months.
Takes study model impressions.
Records accurate probing and monitor bi-annually.
Places and removes matrixes.
Polishes amalgams with high or slow speed hand piece.
Packs and carves amalgams that have been prepared, under CLOSE supervision of the Dentist.
Places temporary restorations.
Replaces temporary crowns.
Places composite restorations.
Removes overhangs.
Applies pit and fissure sealants under CLOSE supervision of the Dentist.
Provides deep scaling.
Root planning as directed by the supervising Dentist.
Utilizes cavitron as needed.
Polishes coronally.
Provides oral hygiene instruction.
Applies fluoride treatments.
Provides prevention treatment.
Places and removes periodontal dressings.
Removes sutures.
Performs soft tissue curettage under close supervision of the Dentist.
Performs all functions delegable to the dental assistant not addressed in this guideline.
Schedules and confirms patients.
Reviews medical emergency with staff bi-annually.
Assists dental receptionist with recall system.
Organizes and participates in community dental health projects.
Promotes a positive work culture and upholds clinic policies and procedures, including the WE CARE standards of Behavior.
Must uphold confidentiality at all times in regards to CBHA activities, reports, financials, patient health information and other proprietary information specific to CBHA.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Professional and Technical Knowledge:
Graduate of an accredited Dental Hygiene School.
Ability to effectively treat all forms of periodontal disease.
Ability to place permanent alloy, composite, and temporary restorations.
Ability to administer anesthetic to their patients when required.
License and Certification:
Licensed to practice Dental Hygiene in Washington State.
Possesses CPR certification or ability to obtain within designated timeframe.
Technical Skills:
Ability to prepare basic correspondence and simple reports in Microsoft Word.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel to create tables and simple displays of information.
Ability to use Electronic Medical Records software.
