SUPERVISORY CONTROL: Group Supervisor/Child Care Coordinator

HOURS: Part Time, up to 25 hours per week/52 weeks per year. CCDP is looking for a reliable part time employee to work a few days a week or a few hours a day. Hours/days must be consistent, for example: 7am-12pm daily or Tues/Thurs from 12-5:30pm. Please include your preferred work hours in the " Specify days and hour you are available " on the screener questions.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Carry out the daily activities under the guidance and supervision of the group supervisor. Be responsible for the planning and executing of a program for children in-line with the philosophy of the program and the highest goals for early childhood education. In accordance with the philosophy of Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), develop and maintain positive working relationships with all staff in the agency and demonstrate a positive attitude towards all clients and other persons with whom you come in contact during the course of your job. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Be able to kneel, stoop, bend, reach, and sit on the floor on a daily basis.

SPECIFIC DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Learn, understand and cooperate with the philosophy and curriculum of the program.
  • In conjunction with the Group Supervisor, plan and prepare developmentally appropriate activities to enhance the individual development of each child.
  • Be a positive model for aides, work study students, substitutes, volunteers and others working with the children.
  • Maintain records or reports that are necessary for the children or the program. This includes, but not limited to, lesson plans, attendance sheets, developmental assessments, take home notes for parents, accident reports, anecodotals, etc. Give reports to the appropriate person for filing.
  • Complete developmental assessments three times a year for each child.
  • Hold parent/teacher conferences three times a year to review developmental assessments and when requested by parent or when need arises.
  • Maintain daily open communication with parents (newsletters, parent bulletin board, take home papers, phone calls).
  • Participate in parent functions. Encourage parent involvement in parent activities such as Parent’s Night Out, Valentine Tea, Summer Social, and the Parent Breakfast, etc.
  • In the absence of the Group Supervisor, assume responsibility for the daily operation of the classroom.
  • Be responsible for administering medication, insuring that permission slips for medication and medication logs are properly completed and given to the appropriate person for filing.
  • Be responsible for notifying parents when a child is ill and arrange with the parent a suitable pick up time.
  • Maintain up-to-date first aid, Emergency Plan training, CPR certification, fire training, and water safety training as needed.
  • Evaluate the aides directly under his/her supervision according to the procedures as outlined in the Personnel Handbook.
  • Supervise closely and interact with children in all activity areas, inside and outside, with an appropriate sense of accountability. Assist children to be self- reliant and to relate to others.
  • Keep in mind the individual development of each child; work toward social, nutritional, physical, emotional and cognitive goals appropriate to each individual child’s needs.
  • Supervise and help direct the activities of aides, substitutes, volunteers, work study students, and others working with children.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment. Keep materials in good repair and stored in a safe orderly fashion.
  • Be familiar with licensing regulations as specified by DPW, and be responsible for the program’s compliance of these and/or bring to the Child Care Coordinator’s attention.
  • Attend meetings with Group Supervisor to bring forward issues, concerns, ideas, and problems.
  • Attend 24 hours of training annually and make use of appropriate training as required, which may be occasional night or weekend training.
  • Be familiar with NAEYC regulations and be responsible for the program’s compliance of these regulations.
  • Be familiar with STARS regulations and be responsible for the program’s compliance of these regulations.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures.
  • Participate in monthly staff meetings.
  • Maintain an up-to-date Professional Development Record (PDR).
  • Maintain daily health routines with the children, including brushing teeth and hand washing.
  • Participate in two professional developmental activities annually.
  • Be responsible for the assigned computer hardware and software. Perform regular maintenance functions and other duties as outlined in the agency’s written procedure on computer systems.
  • Carry out any additional duties as assigned by the Group Supervisor and/or child Care Coordinator for the efficient operation of the child care program.
Requirements:

A high school diploma or a GED certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field; OR a high school diploma or a GED certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and one year of experience with children. OR a high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and two years experience working with children.
