JOB SUMMARY:
Columbia College is seeking adjunct instructors to teach general education online and/or face-to-face classes in the areas of Languages (ASL, Spanish), History, Religion, and Philosophy. A Master’s degree in the field of study is required. Priority will be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with an LMS such as Canvas. Instructors are expected to adhere to all college policies and procedures, teach in accordance with established course goals and student learning outcomes, and uphold the mission and values of Columbia College.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teach online and/or face-to-face classes in General Education (Languages, History, Religion, and Philosophy) The modality of courses (online/F2F) will be determined by student needs and communicated by the Dean of the division.
- Provide high quality instruction to students.
- Use effective communication skills to communicate with students about assignments, content and performance and with Columbia College faculty and staff about student needs, performance and key assessments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Bachelor’s degree in any field; master's degree in field of study is required; doctorate is preferred.
- Preference may be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
