Description
JOB SUMMARY
The Electronic Resources and Access Librarian promotes and supports learning through providing leadership for all aspects of discovery and access services for electronic and print resources. The librarian maintains current and correct bibliographic records for all resources through cataloging and deaccessioning and ensures the proper functioning of the SLSP. Additionally, this role supports student and faculty research by managing document delivery and interlibrary loan.
The Learning Commons includes the Library, Career and Student Success Services (including advising and accessibility services), Pearce Communication Center, tutoring, and the Honors Program as integrated services to support student learning. It also serves as the lab for individual and collaborative learning for students, faculty, and staff, including developing programming on topics of current regional, world, or professional interest.
The position reports to the Director of Edens Library while working collaboratively with other members of the Library and Learning Commons faculty and staff. This is a twelve-month, non-tenured faculty position.
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
Electronic Resources (40%) :
- Conducts needs analyses to identify databases and other digital resources appropriate to support learning congruent with the curriculum and the mission of Columbia College.
- Manages purchasing and renewal invoices.
- Develops and maintains relationships with vendors.
- Provides outreach, support, collaboration, and training to Librarians, other Learning Commons faculty and staff, faculty and students about databases for use in their areas, important changes in interfaces or functionality, and specialized use or curricular integration.
- Engages in robust assessment of needs and of effectiveness of electronic resource training opportunities to measure the impact of training and of the availability of resources on student learning.
- Collects and compiles usage statistics on a monthly schedule.
- Troubleshoots and reports issues; manages authentication and linkage with discovery tools, such as Primo VE and Open Athens.
- Maintains LibGuides pages, such as A to Z listing, and provide administrative support for SpringShare applications.
- Drafts policies and procedures relevant to electronic resources use; maintains current knowledge of licensing agreements.

Attending and presenting at local, state and / or regional conferences, workshops, webinars, etc. as budget permits.

Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
