Job Summary:
The Instructional Support Coordinator provides comprehensive support for adjunct instructors across all instructional venues, with a primary focus on virtual, hybrid, and in-seat instructors. This role is essential in establishing rapport and building connections with instructors to ensure they have the necessary resources for course setup and can deliver an exceptional learning environment for students.
Essential Functions:
- Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College’s vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of the Academic Operations Department.
- Instructor Support: Establish and maintain strong relationships with instructors, providing assistance with course setup in D2L Brightspace and with other required processes and systems (e.g., taking attendance, entering final grades, completing syllabi), and offering research-based teaching strategies.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Monitor adjunct instructors on an ongoing basis to ensure their performance aligns with Columbia College performance metrics and expectations. Share positive findings, address concerns and assist with coaching towards improvement. Assist with the evaluation process of instructors and review student evaluations every session to share positives and address performance concerns with adjuncts or appropriate channels.
- Resource Management: Help update and manage resources, including training materials, videos, academic guides, and other instructional resources.
- Course Scheduling: Use data to recommend instructors for course schedules, ensuring optimal alignment with institutional needs.
- Training and Development: Conduct training sessions for instructors, focusing on improving instructional quality through mentoring and coaching.
- Collaboration: Work closely with various teams and individuals, including academic operations, course help, textbook help, course development, instructor support coordinators, tech support, advisors, coaches, military locations, and other college teams.
- Professional Development: Stay current with research-based teaching strategies by attending Center for Teaching and Learning programs and other professional development opportunities and share insights with instructors and team members.
- Technology Utilization: Demonstrate proficiency in using Generative AI, Learning Management Systems, and Zoom to support instructional activities.
- Customer Service: Provide superior customer service, displaying respect and civility in all communications with constituencies.

- Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned, attend college and team events during established hours of operation, and maintain regular attendance during established hours of operation, with flexibility to work additional hours as business necessitates.

Qualifications:
- Experience with Learning Management Systems (e.g., D2L Brightspace)
- Proficiency in using Zoom and other video tools
- Familiarity with Generative AI applications in education
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams

Required Core Competencies and Professional Experience:
- Proficiency in using Zoom and web-based technologies
- Ability to fluently read, write, and understand the English language.
- Proficiency with the following, but not limited to: active listening; speaking; writing; critical thinking; judgment and decision making; monitoring; reading comprehension; time management; coordination; and management of personnel resources.
- Proficiency for using a variety of computer and technology-related software and equipment, including Microsoft Office products and database systems.
- Proficiency in using web-based technologies, including database systems.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with or without direct supervision.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and exceptional computer skills are required
- Master’s degree
- Three years’ experience in higher education

- Experience with use of Generative AI tools
- Experience with Zoom and different features (or similar video conferencing)
- Experience in an online higher education environment in a leadership role
