JOB SUMMARY:
The Division of Education at Columbia College invites applications for a Lecturer and Tech to Teach Coordinator position for immediate hire. This position will directly support teacher candidates at the initial level with completion of Praxis Core requirements for licensure; serve as a liaison with Tech to Teach technical school partners and support Teacher Cadet partnerships with select local high school programs. For qualified candidates, additional opportunities for teaching and field supervision exist. The Division of Education at Columbia College prepares students to become teachers who are collaborative professionals, knowledgeable in the content and practice of their respective disciplines. The Division of Education offers programs leading to certification in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, and middle-level education. The Division of Education also works in collaboration with other academic programs on campus to offer majors leading to certification in Dance and English Education. Other programs within the Division of Education include undergraduate programs in Speech-Language Pathology and Educational Studies, as well as graduate programs in Education Administration and Leadership, Trauma Informed Education, Innovation and Divergent Learning, and Higher Education Administration.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Responsibilities include overseeing introductory undergraduate teacher education courses that support candidate preparation for initial entry exams (Praxis Core), serving as the Columbia College Tech to Teach liaison with regional South Carolina technical colleges and supporting local high school Teacher Cadet partnerships; as well as service at the division, college, and state level. Onsite travel and weekend recruitment events required.
- Additional opportunities include but are not limited to teaching within the science of reading/literacy sequence of courses and supervising teacher candidates in field experience settings.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- Applicants should possess an earned Masters or higher in an Education-related field from a regionally accredited institution and have a minimum of five years of public-school teaching experience in a grade K-12. Interested candidates should be self-motivated and organized in their daily work and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Experience in collaborative leadership with effective communication skills is a requirement for this position.
- Preference may be given to applicants with prior college teaching experience and familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS) such as Canvas.
- Must have some familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

- Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work.
- Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; excellent interpersonal skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Requires sedentary work that involves walking, standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling some of the time and requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and the ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force on a recurring basis or routine keyboard operations.
