The Workforce Development Manager position is responsible for the development, implementation, and coordination of workforce and education programs and events in an effort to ensure the growth of the Chamber Foundation’s mission and revenue goals. The position includes program development, financial solicitation, grant writing, marketing, event management, and sales. This position leads the Workforce and Education Committee, supports the Chamber Foundation Board of Directors, and interacts with educational institutions, Chamber members, and staff. Additionally, this role will focus on government affairs and public policy as they relate to workforce development initiatives.
STATUS
- This is a full-time, non-exempt, at-will position
OBJECTIVE
- Implements Chamber Foundation events and programs
- Leads the Workforce and Education committee
- Manages financial growth of Foundation and Committee goals
- Provides staff support for Chamber programs and events
- Oversees grant writing and funding development efforts
- Engages in workforce-related government affairs and public policy advocacy
JOB RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports to President / CEO and assisted by Vice President
- Supports Foundation Board of Directors
- Frequent contact with Chamber members, staff, volunteers, and other non-profits
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Represent the Chamber to members and the community in a professional manner
- Coordinate with Workforce and Education Chair and Foundation Chair, when applicable, to establish attendance and financial goals for each program
- Support Workforce and Education Committee by preparing agendas, taking minutes, maintaining communication with committee members, and distributing materials
- Track reservations for programs and events
- Coordinate with appropriate committee members and staff for set-up, break-down, and on-site event operations
- Track all invoicing for event attendance, sponsorships, and P&L
- Verify and approve program-related bills for payment
- Maintain current budget reports and ensure budget conformance for each program or event
- Provide status reports to the Foundation Board of Directors
- Responsible for securing in-kind, cash, and media sponsorships
- Prepare sponsorship proposals and solicit new sponsors/donors
- Prepare and report post-event summaries, exit survey results, and program metrics
- Direct content to staff for placement on social media, website, publications, and news media
- Provide staff support as requested
- Participate in outside committees such as ACE, attend Board of Education Meetings, and other educational liaison needs
- Engage in government affairs and workforce-related public policy discussions
- Research, write, and manage workforce development grants and funding opportunities
- Coordinate all logistics of the following current programs/events:
- Students In Business
- Teachers In Business
- Principal for a Day
- Career and College Expo
- Work-Based Learning Program
- Youth Leadership Columbia County
- Other programs/events as assigned
- Other duties as assigned
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- This position requires a person who can stand, sit at a desk or computer terminal, drive a car, lift boxes or other items up to 20 pounds, deliver materials, and climb stairs
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS REQUIRED
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in communications, marketing, business, or related fields
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong writing skills for grant applications, sponsorship proposals, and program solicitation
- Experience in government affairs, public policy, and workforce advocacy
- Excellent organizational and people skills
- Ability to efficiently handle multi-tasked operations
- Strong general computer skills as well as proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher, & Outlook
- Event management experience, including planning, execution, and logistics coordination
- Ability to work with and manage volunteer teams and leaders
- Willing to be flexible with hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends for events
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Job performance evaluations may occur at 30-day provisional, 90-day, and annually or as needed
- Georgia is an “At Will” employment state, meaning either the employee or the employer can terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without notice, and with or without cause
- Drug-Free Workplace; random drug tests may be conducted throughout the year
- Must have personal vehicle to be used for meetings, events, and programs; personal vehicle will be used for carrying supplies for events; mileage reimbursement provided
