What are the responsibilities and job description for the Economic Support Specialist position at Columbia County Government?
This is a customer service position. Do you like numbers and talking on the phone, have finance, banking, retail, or call center experience? Columbia County Health & Human Services is seeking Full-time Economic Support Specialists. The successful candidates with prior customer service experience, must be reliable, professional, compassionate, able to interpret complex rules and regulations and use good judgment to make appropriate eligibility decisions. Position will determine eligibility for Columbia County and 7 other surrounding counties known as Capital Consortium via inbound and outbound calls and maintain a caseload. Prior knowledge of FoodShare, Medical Assistance, BadgerCare Plus, Child Care, and Caretaker Supplement or Elderly, Blind, and Disabled programs helpful, but not required. Qualifications: Associate or Business Degree from an accredited Vocational, College, or Technical School in a related field or two (2) years’ experience working with the public OR equivalent combination of training and experience. Successful completion of Wisconsin Dept. of Health Services Income Maintenance Certification (certification training provided while on the job) and successful processing of cases w/in 6 months of hire date required. Hours for these positions may start as early as 7:15 and end as late as 4:30. Hire rate: $23.96 per hour.
