What are the responsibilities and job description for the Court Recorder position at Columbia County?
The 26th Judicial District, Columbia and Montour Counties, has an opening for a full time court reporter/stenographer position, 37.5 hours per week. The courthouses for each county are located in the towns of Bloomsburg and Danville, respectively.
Through the use of an electronic recoding system, records of all spoken words during court proceedings including but not limited to testimony, opening/closing remarks of counsel, the Court, Orders and sidebar conferences. Prepare court orders and/or transcripts from the verbatim recordings as requested. Swear in witnesses, mark exhibits as directed by the Court.
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Prior transcriptionist experience using audio equipment. Paralegal degree helpful. Other work includes transcribing, proofreading and producing court orders and transcripts in a timely manner as well as responsibility for exhibits. Knowledge of English grammar, attention to detail and accuracy with an expected typing ability of words per minute of 180 literary, 200 jury charge and 225 two voice question and answer.
