What are the responsibilities and job description for the I&C Engineer position at Columbia Energy?
Columbia Energy and Environmental Services is an established small business headquartered in Richland, WA, which offers full-service engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, testing, and technology development. Currently there is an opening for 1 additional Electrical/I&C Engineer interested in advancing their career with opportunities to serve as design engineers on design/build/test projects, technical leads, and project engineers. Job Responsibilities/Duties:
- Identify, evaluate, and test unique design solutions for projects involved in: nuclear and hazardous waste remediation; chemical processing; and commercial development.
- Instrumentation and Controls including development of P&IDs, control system design, control panel design and testing.
- Conduct design and analysis to established codes and standards (e.g., NEC, UL-508A).
- Ability to work safely in office and shop environments and have a safety focus in all aspects of assigned roles.
- Provide support to multiple simultaneous projects and project teams.
- Work with designers to produce detail design drawings.
- Generate test plans/procedures and support system testing.
- Maintenance of configuration and control of baseline drawings and documents.
- Ability to effectively communicate task status, progress, technical issues, and meet project deadlines.
- Review projects and ensure compliance with basic design.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher from an ABET accredited university.
- Minimum of 5 years of demonstrated experience in control system design.
- Demonstrated experience in preparing design deliverables, resolving technical review comments, and finalizing design deliverables.
- Construction oversight for receipt inspection, testing, through coordination of final inspection/acceptance.
- Troubleshooting problems with instrumentation, monitoring, and control systems.
- Self-starter with the ability to focus on project needs and delivery schedules.
- US citizen.
Preferred Qualifications:
- PE License
- DOE experience
- Experience at a nuclear facility or Navy Nuclear power
- Willingness to take on new challenges and learn new skills while contributing to project teams
Working Conditions:
This position is performed in an office environment with occasional visits to the company’s Fabrication Shop for testing and guidance to the Shop staff.
