Originally established to assist with nuclear cleanup efforts at Hanford, we have since grown into a well-established small business providing a wide range of services, including engineering, design, fabrication, instrumentation and controls, electrical systems, software engineering, technology development, and geophysics/subsurface imaging.
We are currently seeking a full-time Shop Laborer I to join our team in Idaho Falls, ID. This position offers competitive wages, comprehensive benefits, and the opportunity to work in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Essential Responsibilities
- Perform all duties safely and professionally in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Assemble basic mechanical equipment, structural components, and piping systems.
- Identify and report unsafe conditions or equipment.
- Prepare materials by removing burrs, sharp edges, rust, or scale.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
- Cut steel using various equipment, including chop saws, band saws, CNC plasma tables, water jets, torches, and hand tools.
- Prepare fabricated parts for painting through grinding, sanding, and sandblasting.
- Load and unload trucks using a forklift.
- Use a variety of hand tools safely and efficiently.
- Perform minor repairs and maintenance on assigned equipment.
- Drill holes in steel using drill presses, mills, mag drills, and hand tools.
- Fit and fabricate metal products.
- Deliver products and tools between field locations and the shop.
Required Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test (Columbia Energy maintains a drug- and alcohol-free work environment).
- Ability to safely operate tools, machinery, and vehicles.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and following verbal and written instructions.
- Willingness to travel to field sites as needed.
- Strong math skills, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide fractions/decimals and solve basic geometric problems.
- Mechanical aptitude and strong problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and lifting.

- Comfortable working at heights, climbing ladders, and using fall protection equipment when necessary.

Working Conditions
