Description
Assist in patient care reflecting needs of the patients, families, and the facility
Give care reflecting the flexibility in rules and regulations, as indicated by patients' needs
Performance indicates knowledge in all areas of care specific to outpatient/ambulatory care, scheduling in computer, medical record maintenance, confidentiality and phone skills.
Utilize personal initiative, maintain a steady level of productivity, must be a self-starter and a compatible and supportive team player
Meet current documentation standards and policies and complete them during each workday
Oversee the waiting room for changes in patient condition, family concerns, and respond to inappropriate behavior in a professional manner as needed
Assist in C ode situation with family, 911 alert, chart preparation for transfer and emergency personnel
Works under the direction of the Center Administrator
Maintain a safe environment for patient, coworkers and self
Assist in the par levels for supplies by trancing and reporting the center's needs to the Center's Administrator
Maintain logs needed in the medical record storange area
Prepare charts for the following day's patients. Collect charts at the end of the workday and secure them
Organize the medical records room to track all charts from creation
Schedule all procedures as called by physicians office and notify Center's Administration of difficulties
Prepare schedules for use throughout the facility
Batch patient charges and forward as directed
Answer telephone in polite/professional manner and communicate information to appropriate personnel in timely fashion
Check the patient in, confidentially and systematically, making sure to collect copies of his/her insurance card, picture ID, signed forms as required, and organize information so nurses can retrieve
Take on other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited high school or GED. Able to read and communicate in English
One to three years of related experience, preferably in surgery center or GI practice office
Must have training or self-paced instruction in information management, and be able to utilize computers and various software programs such as Windows, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
