Columbia Forest Products is looking for a reliable, detail-oriented Janitor/Mill Clean-up to join our 1st shift team. This position plays a vital role in keeping our operations clean, safe, and efficient. Responsibilities include shoveling wood waste, sweeping, handling veneer waste, climbing ladders, and operating equipment such as industrial vacuums and wheelbarrows. Weekend coverage is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shovel and remove wood waste from work areas
- Operate industrial vacuum equipment and manual wheelbarrows
- Handle and dispose of waste veneer materials
- Sweep and clean designated areas of the facility
- Climb ladders and navigate tight or elevated spaces safely
- Maintain adherence to Lockout/Tagout and other safety procedures
Qualifications:
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
- Ability to read, understand, and follow Lockout and Safety policies
- Willingness to work weekends as part of a rotating or fixed schedule
- Positive attitude, team player mindset
Physical Demands:
- Frequent standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling
- Must be able to lift/move 10 lbs regularly and up to 25 lbs occasionally
- Requires good vision: color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus
Work Environment:
- Regular exposure to wood dust particles
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, extreme heat, moving machinery, and vibration
- High noise environment – hearing protection required
