Job Title: Mechanic
Columbia Forest Products is seeking a talented individual to join our team as a Mechanic at the Bladenboro, NC facility.
Summary:
We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to perform regular full-facility preventative maintenance, ensuring the road worthiness of our fleet of dry van trailers. The successful candidate will have experience with diesel knowledge and be able to repair malfunctioning equipment and machinery.
Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs/installations utilizing a wide range of tools, including hand tools, power tools, cutting torches, and welding machines.
- Maintain upkeep of all equipment on site.
- Change tires, light work, adjust and change brakes, wheel seal, troubleshoot air systems, and replace landing gears with knowledge of welding.
Work Involved:
- Working on tractor trailers, including changing trailer tires, changing brakes, changing out airbags, diagnosing light issues, repairing holes in trailer floors properly, and landing gear repairs.
- Working on heavy machinery, including front end loader routine maintenance and diagnosing issues.
- Equipment on site includes bandsaws, chop saws, and manual feed saws, requiring regular maintenance and troubleshooting.
Physical Demands:
- Frequent lifting and bending.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
- Working under trailers.
Work Environment:
- Occasional extreme temperature shifts ranging from very cold to very hot.
- Exposure to dust and loud noise (hearing protection is provided).
Work Schedule:
- Monday - Friday 7am until.
- Some Saturday work may be required.
