What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Education Instructor position at Columbia Gorge Community College?
Community Education Instructors teach part-time, non-credit courses. Community Education classes are self-supporting. Fees collected from students cover all instructional, administrative, and overhead costs of the program. Instructors are responsible for planning, developing and instructing courses and workshops offered by the CGCC Community Education Department delivered throughout CGCC's Service District, on the CGCC campus, in The Dalles, Hood River, or online. Classes are offered on the basis of successful past performance, and instructor and facility availability.

- Prepares and furnishes a class outline for approval to the Community Education Coordinator
- Delivers instruction as described in the class outline
- Prepares and develops materials, handouts and teaching activities needed for the course
- Requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends.
- Understands, develops and provides a learning environment that supports diversity and incorporates a sensitivity to diversity in the classroom
- Be punctual, organized and provide a classroom environment that is conducive to learning, actively engage students and create a climate of mutual respect and fairness.
- Follow all CGCC policies, procedures and safety regulations
- Dress in appropriate attire.
- Ability to work independently and be self-directed
- Complete all electronic or paper forms with care and detail.
- Access to an internet connection and active mail account for web-based functions including payroll, and department correspondence is required.
- At the conclusion of the class/workshop, put the room back the way you found it.
