Description
JOB SUMMARY : This position is a part of the Writing Department, and includes mentoring writing students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and / or abilities required to perform the job satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Mentor writing students in basic writing skills (sentence structure, paragraphing, basic organization, etc.)
- Mentor writing students in study skills like time management and prioritization;
- Assist to Creative Writing Program, the Club and Otolith
- Serve as an embedded mentor in a writing classroom; and
- Other duties as assigned (research, copying, scanning, etc.)

Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO PERFORM THIS ROLE :
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
Previous office writing and / or mentoring experience is required.
The WDFWS is scheduled to work 5-10 hours per week, depending upon demand; these hours are flexible and can be arranged with the Department Chair.
The Department Chair or other faculty will provide necessary training and support to the WDWS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS :
This position requires working at a computer, typing, sitting, and standing.
This position requires use of office equipment such as computers, printers, telephones, copiers, adding machines, fax machines, and scanners.
