Columbia Grain International, LLC. is a long time established full-service grain company in the grain and pulses business. We are headquartered in Portland, Oregon and own/operate over 60 elevators and offices throughout WA, ID, MT, NE and ND to support our domestic and export sales program.

Position Description:
The Database Engineer is responsible for the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of the company’s data platforms.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design and architect databases using various database technologies including Microsoft SQL, Oracle, and cloud-based platforms like Snowflake, Azure SQL, etc.
- Review and evaluate technical documents and collaborate with technical staff and other stakeholders to ensure that databases meet business requirements.
- Create normalized data models and schemas to represent the company's data requirements and manage the synchronization of data between an Operational Data Store and Data Warehouse.
- Test, troubleshoot, optimize, and secure enterprise databases.
- Write and support SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Create and maintain ETL jobs and multiple event data pipelines.
- Recommend and implement best practices to ensure efficient, scalable, and maintainable database solutions.
- Working knowledge of backup and recovery procedures to ensure database availability, protection from data loss, and restoration through disaster recovery procedures.
- Ensure data & analytics models and architecture is robust, scalable, and maintainable.
- Train colleagues in how to input and extract data.
- Establish and maintain strong business relationships with both senior and operating level business leaders.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or related field/equivalent work experience.
- 7 years or more experience administering Microsoft SQL server databases.
- 3 years or more in database architecture and data modeling.
- Must have very good to excellent communication skills, ability to work well within a team, and across the enterprise and with occasional external business partners.
- Experience with Data Warehouse best practices.
- Experience deploying systems, software, and configuration changes.
