Position Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing highly diversified duties to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production and facility equipment. This position conducts all activities in accordance with safety, predictive, and preventive maintenance systems, and processes to support the achievement of the location’s business goals and objectives.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, maintain and repair facility and production-related equipment.
- Maintain equipment and facilities in two locations that are in close proximity to each other (Fountain City and Cochrane, WI.)
- Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all equipment and facilities.
- Perform necessary work related to: mechanical, electrical, welding, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting, and repair of various pieces of machinery.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, blueprints, and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose moderately complex maintenance issues, seek out continuous improvement opportunities, and provide input and recommendations. When appropriate, lead continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform regular preventive and predictive maintenance on machines, equipment, and plant facilities.
- Maintain current and in-depth knowledge of all safety policies and standards related to the position. Work in a safe manner and recognize unsafe situations and take appropriate action to ensure safety of self and others.
- Provides guidance to team members with less experience, knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.
- Consults with management when necessary to manage costs of repair or replacement.
- Works with a limited degree of supervision and responsible for escalating situations as appropriate.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge, Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GDE equivalent required, Associate’s Degree in related field preferred.
- 3 to 5 years of related experience.
- Continuously looks for ways to do things faster and better, while maintaining high quality standards
- Ability to be flexible and adaptive to successfully achieve the function of the position.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to move freely throughout the manufacturing facility to include walking on elevated platforms, standing, sitting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, and crawling.
- Ability to regularly lift and move up to 10 lbs., frequently lift and move up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Exposure to extreme climate temperatures, humidity, and noise.
- Must be able to work in high places and confined spaces.
- Occasionally required to taste and smell product.
- Required to wear personal protective equipment to include hard hat, safety glasses, protective footwear, gloves, coveralls, and other PPE as required.
